FAQs
What attire should we wear?
1
All dress codes are open to interpretation and encompass both American and Indian/Ethnic attire. The only event that is color-oriented is the Gaye Holud aka Haldi where shades of yellow are preferred.
Please feel free to go all out! Have that outfit that’s been rotting away in your closet cause it seems over the top? Bring it out! Don’t worry about outshining the bride, she’ll be the happiest one that weekend, you won’t be able to miss her ;)
If you wanted to wear indian attire but don’t know where to look, here are a few websites:

Are Children Invited?
2
Absolutely! Amit and I have seen so many of these munchkins grow right before our eyes. We would love to have your kids there. Please be sure to add ages next to their names when you RSVP.
We do ask to hold onto them during entrances or performances so they don’t get hurt.
What are the differences between all the events?
3
Sangeet- Pre-Wedding Event, last party before the big day. A much smaller version of a reception. This one will be Bollywood-Themed given the Bride’s love for Bollywood.
Gaye Holud (Haldi)- Turmeric ceremony where friends and family put turmeric on the bride and groom the day of the wedding to enhance their “glow”. It usually does end up with everyone having fun and putting haldi on each other, therefore it may get a little messy.
Wedding Ceremony - Hindu Bengali Ceremony. Will take place on the first floor of The Legacy Castle. Cocktail Hour will be followed by a Baraat which is a fun procession from the Groom’s Side. But you never know who might make a special entry. This will be followed by the Wedding.
Baashi Biye- Morning wedding. In Bengali tradition, after the couple get married, they stay over the Bride’s place along with all of her cousins and friends. They usually host a “Baashor Ghor” aka an after party all night where the bride and groom are not allowed to sleep. The following morning, a smaller intimate wedding ceremony is held with slightly different rituals before the bride takes her “Bidaii” or farewell from her home. Usually the rituals this day are dictated by the groom’s side whereas the actual wedding is per the Bride’s customs.
Bou Bhaat - The first feast hosted by the Groom’s side to welcome the Bride into their family. The groom symbolically takes “responsibility” of the bride from this day on which is followed by lunch. The bride serves rice to her new family members as it is believed to bring prosperity and auspiciousness to the husband’s family.
Reception- A very normal wedding reception which will take place on the second floor of The Legacy Castle. Time to Partaaaaaaayyyyyyy!!!!
